iPad 3 Launch In Early March - Raised Eyebrow?

Or maybe the iPad 2S, but sources say that the next iPad may be unveiled during early March. Tech News & Analysis - Wall Street Journal has reported that Apple has set the release date somewhere in the first week of March at one of its special events. The event will be hosted in  San Francisco, likely at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts.

There have been a lot of rumors flying around regarding the shape, size and features of the next iPad for a while now. Recently, #-Link-Snipped-# posted a picture of what seems to be the back housing for the iPad 3. A larger battery is expected along with a thicker design in comparison to iPad 2.

There is also a hint of a new camera and LCD screen. Japanese blog #-Link-Snipped-# has posted images of what it claims to be the  iPad 3?s LCD screen. Other sources say that the iPad 3 will be running a much faster chip with an improved graphics processing unit, featuring a 2048×1536 Retina Display. Retina Display is a patented term by Apple, which essentially refers to displays greater than 300 ppi (pixels per inch). Retina Display was launched with iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S but didn't feature in the iPad 2. The Retina Display was glorified as the highest-resolution phone screen ever with iPhone 4S.

There is no word on when the iPad 3 will launch in the market but going by Apple's past campaigns, it shouldn't take more than a week or two.
