The news blogs all over the world are going gaga over the Apple's $661 billion market share; calling it the most valuable company in the world. However, #-Link-Snipped-# calls it zealous reporting, without checking the facts. Journalist Ryan Chittum finds out that the Apple's current valuation does not account for the inflation. If that's counted, then the crown of the most valuable company ever in the history of mankind goes to International Business Machines, aka IBM. In 1967, IBM was worth $192.3 billion and if inflation is accounted, then that makes it worth $1.3 Trillion in today's currency. If inflation is not considered, Apple is the clear winner. We wonder how Steve Jobs would have responded to that!

With the same logic, Microsoft was worth $850 billion in 1999. So, it's the inflation that needs to be included while deciding wither Apple, IBM or Microsoft is the most valuable company in the world.

We'd however want to look at companies from another perspective. We want to ask which of the tech giants are most valuable to us - that is, which of these companies has impacted our lives the most? If Apple or IBM didn't exist, how'd our lives be different? Go ahead, tell us in comments below.
