Hike Messenger App On Windows 8.1 Gets New Update

Countryâ€™s second largest free messaging app Hike recently brought in its biggest ever update for Windows 8.1. The features on the offer includes a sparkling new user interface that makes it much easier to navigate around. There is a package of 10 new chat themes with the option of creating a group of over a 500 of your acquaintances. With the provision of mute individual chats if you intend not to be disturbed and a facility of multiple administrators; it very much mimics other popular messaging apps as WhatsApp.

The update, allows to share unlimited amounts of all kinds of non media files and documents of any format like PDF, ZIP, Word (.DOC), PowerPoint (.PPT), Excel (.XLS), MP3â€™s, Audioâ€™s and much more. Videos and files of up to 100 MB can be received effortlessly at a time. The update helps fix the bugs too.

Windows being the second largest platform of hike users, the update is sure to delight its consumers. Hike is Indiaâ€™s first home spawned messaging platform started in 2012 and has over a 70 million users as of 2015.

I ventured on to hike messenger on Windows Phone because unlike WhatsApp it allowed me to send stickers and free sms to non hike users. Soon this became boring as my contact lists members engaged in “sticker wars” as they liked to call it where they bombard you with meaningless stickers and let you fight back. The free sms thing had another drawback as well, phone numbers who had activated DND’s would not be eligible to receive free smses from hike messenger.

Coming to the topic, this update has improved the performance of the app a lot and it looks a lot sleeker than the past. If you get the update and allow the app to update the sticker store along it, you get Rs. 25 talktime that can only be redeemed when your reward amount is a minimum of Rs. 100.

The hike app on Windows still does not have voice calling let alone the conference call thing. The option of adding attachments of multiple file types is a lot handy though.
