Google Says No To Dubious 'User Testimonials' For Play Store
Google has made the rules of the Google Play Store sterner. Since anyone can make an app and upload it on the play store for the Android OS, Google has decided that the description of the app should be specific and would not contain any user testimonials. This means that the developers cannot use the comments of the app to update the description and popularize their products on the store. Google says that even though an impressive title and a persuasive description is important, but in order to do so the developers knowingly or unknowingly violate the spam policy.
According to Google, in the description, the developers should generate the interest of their users by highlighting what is great about their app by describing the app accurately. Google has strictly mentioned that the makers of the app should avoid using repetitive and unrelated keywords and references to manipulate the rankings of the application. Additionally, the developers should keep the description brief because excessive length or repetition can violate also the spam policy.
Evidently, this is an attempt from Google to keep the fake apps at bay and to improve the experience of the users using the play store. Google has specifically mentioned that if the spam policy is violated, then it will lower the appâs rating and it also might suspend the app and terminate the developerâs account prohibiting them from contributing any further to the store.
Google has been recently making some palpable changes their policies and taking the necessary actions as well. Recently, Google had removed the Amazon app from their play store because the app contained a hidden app store of its own. However, as per a recent update, the Amazon Shopping App is back on the app store and has no resemblance to the earlier Amazon app. The Google play store has long been under scrutiny for having less regulations than Appleâs iOS App store so it is good to see Google making such constructive changes to its policies.
