Five years back ArizonaUniversitytook a big step forward in the design of an artificial foot with its SPARKy foot with a 150 W motor, offering a near natural gait.
Now Belgium's Vrije Universiteit Brussel seems to have taken a giant leap forward with its AMP-Foot 2.0 (Ankle Mimicking Prosthetic Foot ) with a weight equalling the missing limb and operating at almost one third SPARKy's power.
A great engineering effort indeed.
