I'm currently in the process of making a list of top features we'd like to have in our real time chat system. I personally am not a fan of the way chatting systems work. I'm thinking of developing a comprehensive chat system that will encourage discussions.

For example, can we have a real time chat system while a video plays at the top - like a live keynote or an important event? I'm trying to think innovatively.

    1) Different colours for different participant names.
    2) A separate box at the top/corner for the current topic being discussed. Editable by anyone to update the topic as it moves.
    3) Smiley options be raining.
    4) Chat history
    5) Media sharing (restricted to discourage spam)

    Some things off the top of my mind.

    Also, the online counter should not include robots.
