Avast Antivirus For Mac Announced. Free Download!
'No Virus For Mac' was a unique selling proposition for Apple for long. It seems that Mac systems are no longer safe from malware. Apple recently acknowledged the Mac Defender malware problem & also released a system update to defend the Trojan. However, many Mac users began feeling the need of an Antivirus software for Mac. AVAST - a leading free antivirus software has released the beta version of Avast Antivirus For Mac platform.

Avast antivirus for Mac will feature three shields along with on-demand scan. To check the incoming Internet data, Avast provides Web Shield and Mail Shield. There is also a 'file shield' which scans all the programs being executed on the computer in real time. Avast for Mac will also feature brand new, refreshed GUI. The antivirus promises following features -

It does not prevent saving of infected files (doing so could lead to irreversible data loss), it just detects them. The File Shield prevents any infected attachments from causing harm to your system.
