Ad-Supported Kindle In India

Amazon launched Kindle - the nice, feature rich Kindle few years ago and it create a new market for the e-books. Kindle continues to have the crown of the most popular e-book reader in the world. Amazon's founder & CEO Jeff Bezos announced that the Kindle will now available with advertisements on the home screen at a discounted price. The good news is that ad-supported Kindle from Amazon is now available in India. The new Kindle is called "Kindle With Offers".

Jeff Bezos informed that the ad-supported device will feature offers and advertisements to users only on the home screen and advertisements will not interfere with user's reading experience. This means no ads will be displayed on pages of ebooks or while you are listening to the audio books. Please note that there is no difference in the hardware or software of the both versions of Kindle. The advertisements will appear as screensavers only on the home screen.

Order Kindle In India

Amazon offers Kindle only in USA but it can be ordered in India via online eCommerce websites. The pre-order is available on HomeShop18 website. The price of ad-supported Kindle in India is Rs. 8000 (approximately ~$180). The regular version (non-ad-supported) Kindle sells in India for north of $205. You can make the payment with your debit card, credit card or through e-payments enabled net-banking.

Our Opinion On Price

While ordering in India the difference between the prices is not huge. However Indian markets are highly sensitive to prices and we are used to watching advertisements everywhere. $25 saved is still a nice saving especially if you multiply it 45. If you are keen on getting e-book reader, go for this. However, a better buy will always be a tablet and there are several options available at the moment.
