Xiaomi Redmi Note 5A launch event starts in an hour, sporting 16 MP camera, new SIM+SD support

The mi community buzz and uncountable notifications just unfolded the announcement of Xiaomi Redmi Note 5A. Succeeding Redmi Note 4, which was rewardingly successful in India, the Note 5A might have to push its paddle harder to touch the bar of expectations. The launch date being August 21, all tech lovers and skeptics are now awaiting its arrival. Currently, the device will only be launched in the Chinese market.

The announcement date was initially revealed just after the device was spotted on Chinese certification site TENNA. It's close cousin being Redmi Note 4A, the phone is supposed to share some upgraded features common to the former one.

According to the mi official mainland China website, the phone sports a symmetry ribbon design. An upper band and lower band segregates the middle portion from its rear camera. On the flip side, a 5.5-inch screen will be stitched whereas the Redmi note 4A had a 5-inch version. A fingerprint scanner takes its position in the middle of the rear panel. However, some images of the upcoming model seem to lack the scanner which makes us think the scanner will be dependent on variants.

Revealing its internal capacity, the newcomer promises to provide 2 SIM slot with 1 micro-SD card which is this time not hybrid. Simply putting, you can now put 2 of your SIMs and also your microSD card along with it and you don't have to tinker with the slot to fit both of them. The micro-SD expansion will be expandable up to 128 GB. As far as internal storage is concerned, the phone will be coupled with 3GB/4GB RAM and 32GB/64GB ROM. As per leaks, Red mi Note 5A will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 processor.

Connectivity wise, it might be equipped with USB Type-C and Bluetooth 5.0 facility. The website accepting some of the earlier claims reveals that the gadget will embed a 16 MP sensor and a front flash in the selfie snapper whereas the rear camera will come with a 13 MP sensor (unverified).

The phone will run on Android 7.1.1 nougat with an overlay of MIUI 8. The phone will supposedly sport a price tag of CNY 999.
