Xiaomi banned in India!!

The ban was ordered in response to a complaint filed by Ericsson for infringement of its Standard essential pateints. The patents are allegedly related to AMP (Adaptive MultiRate) technology (that enhances the range of voice frequency over cellular network), 2G (GSM) and 3G (UMTS or WCDMA) technologies and are licensed under FRAND (Fair, Reasonable and Non-Discriminatory Terms).
Now flipkart will also has to stop and cancelling the order for Red mi phones also .

Interesting update! Xiaomi does know that India is a very important market for them and they simply can't afford to lose out on it. It'd be interesting to see how Xiaomi and Ericsson work this out.

Currently Xiaomi is selling the Redmi Note and planning to launch the Mi4 in the first or second month of 2015.

PS: Wonder what will happen to software updates and support to the current handsets bought in India.

Software update may be not a problem because it is to be provided over the internet, the problem is how the users are provided with warranty services 👀

I am sure the average user don't care about patent infringement or any other IP issues. Cheap is the best!
