This is a basic parameter of screw threads. It refers to the distance between two successive threads.

Sir, thanks for the info. I know it is the distance b/w two successive threads. But my query is what exactly the meaning of pitch is and how it is related to threading?

Example:

Cricket: In cricket, the pitch is the particular area of the ground, which is effective.

Threading: In threading, Pitch is the effective diameter or distance which is used in thread engagement.

Hope my question is clear.

I apologise.

The word pitch may have Greco-Latin antecedents. The noun itself has many diverse meanings one of which is repetitive dimensions like pitch of a gear, screw thread, or frequency of a sound note.
