Will Carbon Fiber Find Widespread Use in the Automotive Industry?

Most car ads show long distance, high speed or other extreme performance behaviors which are largely irrelevant to normal urban use. It is said that a 10% weight reduction can lead to a nearly matching fuel reduction. There is need for some disruptive design changes. Work (very slow) on carbon fibre is on in government R&D labs to produce low cost high performance CF.

What is the take of CEans on the potential for a radically redesigned urban personal transport using CF?
