Process design: It is a part of chemical engineering. It is an activity to determine the workflow, needs, and implementation requirements of a particular process. In simple words, 'Designing the layout of a process'.

Piping design: It is also a part of chemical engineering. It is the development of efficient piping processes to find out the best way to transport fluids or gases.

Process designing is more beneficial for the job of design engineers because the piping design is limited to some applications related to chemicals.

Process Design can be properly done and executed only with adequate and correct design data. This should include as a minimum the chemical and physical characteristics of chemicals, the reaction characteristics, including mechanism, kinetics, and thermal data for all likely reactions

Piping design is  comes in mechanical engineering branch. It comes under mechanical engineering and chemical engineering. It can be specifically for oil gas refinery and power piping.
