Volvo V40 Cross Country (Petrol) Priced @ Rs. 27 Lakh - Specs At Glance

Volvo Group, the Swedish manufacturer, has announced the launch of the brand new petrol variant of Volvo V40 Cross Country in the Indian market. Similar to other Volvo models namely S60, S80, XC60 and XC90, the all new V40 Cross Country is priced in the higher bracket of price range at Rs. 27,00,000 (ex-Showroom Mumbai). Set to compete against the likes of Audi Q3, Mercedes Benz A-Class and BMW X1 in India, the V40 Cross Country model is power packed with rich set of specifications that can lure any buyer willing to shell out the seven-digit amount. Since June 2013, the V40 Cross Country Diesel variant is getting quite popular in India. Without further adieu, let's dive into the new hatchback's specifications and find out if they offer value for money.

Powered by a 1.6-litre, Four-cylinder, direct injection, turbocharged petrol EcoBoost engine with start/stop technology mated to six-speed automatic transmission, producing 185PS max power and a 240 Nm peak torque, the V40 Cross Country can go from 0 to 100 kmph speed in mere 8.5 seconds. In city, at powershift transmission, the V40 offers mileage of 7.9 L/100 km and on manual gearbox it's set at 7.1 L/100 km, whereas on highway the figures change to 5.1L and 4.7L respectively. The hatchback sits on 17 inch LARENTA silver bright/dark alloy wheels Coming with a 62 Litre fuel capacity, the dimensions of the car are set at - Height 1458 mm, Length 4370 mm, Width 1802 mm and 145 mm ground clearance.

On the car's exterior, we find LED DRL lights, roof spoiler, dual headlights, headlight washer system and turn-with-steering lights. The plush interiors are adorned by leather seats, 8-inch TFT screen driver information module, high performance 8 speakers, single DVD player with MP3 decoder and AUX/USB/Bluetooth audio streaming among other entertainment options. The support systems include Cruise Control, park assists, electro power steering, rear parking camera and rain sensors. The rider's safety is taken care of with two step airbags, emergency brake assist (EBA), anti-lock brake system (ABS & EBD), child safety controls and basic alarms in place.

The car exhibits Scandinavian influence in its design and in that features high gloss curves, strong lines sweeping the bonnet and dynamically sculpted rear. We believe that many will love the looks of Volvo V40 and its overall appeal.

Other than Audi Q3 and BMW X1, the car will also face competition from the popular options like Toyota Fortuner, Hyundai Santa Fe and Chevrolet Captiva's high end models. Then there's MINI Cooper joining the league as well.
