UTILIZATION OF GREEN ENERGY IN REFRIGERATION AND AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM

Project Abstract / Summary : The most important aspect of today's world is to conserve energy. Cooling systems is one of the appliances that consume a large amount of power. The paper deals with the conservation of energy in such appliances. Today’s challenge is the need of smart machines which consumes only considerable energy with at most efficiency. The energy crisis of world has led to innovation and up gradation of the systems. The machines operations should be revised for better utilization of energy. This also reduces the burden on the conventional energy resources leading to a green world for future.
In conventional refrigeration and air conditioning system working on vapor compression refrigeration cycle, the expansion of working medium is accomplished using throttle valve which also act as a buffer. In this process huge kinetic energy imparted by the compressor is only utilized for mere expansion. This energy could be well harvested by a rotor system which is coupled with a compressor at the other end. Here the 2 stage compressor increases the efficiency and refrigeration capacity of the system. Hence the amount power consumed by the compressor is actually not needed when we use the 2 stage compressor system which utilizes waste kinetic energy for its working. This unit could be an economic unit at places where high tonnage capacity compressors are used as well as providing comfort conditions to the people.

Why did you choose to work on this project topic : I thought of reducing the power consumption consumed by R & ac system. So i took this project and reduced the electricity bill to a certain extent.
The term air conditioning refers to the control of temperature, humidity, motion and purity of atmosphere in the confined space. Out of all the refrigeration systems, the vapor compression system is the most important system from the view point of commercial and domestic utility. It is the most practical form of refrigeration. In this system the working fluid is a vapor. It readily evaporates and condenses or changes alternatively between the vapor and liquid phases without leaving the refrigerating plant. During evaporation, it absorbs heat from the cold body. This heat is used as its latent heat for converting it from the liquid to vapor. In condensing or cooling or liquefying, it rejects heat to external body, thus creating a cooling effect in the working fluid. During compression stroke the pressure and temperature increases until the vapor temperature is greater than the temperature of the condenser cooling medium.

Project Highlights : Because we have reduced the electricity consumption of the system which is main advantage so that the saved electric power could be harnessed for some other useful purpose and could reduce the power scarcity problem.
