UK Gets Apple iTunes Match, Finally!

Apple launched #-Link-Snipped-# last month and it's only yesterday that UK people witnessed its launch in the country. In fact, users from France, Australia and Canada are also reporting that the service is available in their countries. Looks like Apple successfully dealt with the record companies in UK sooner than what we expected.



iTunes Match becomes useful when you want to have music that you did not purchase from iTunes. It is built iTunes app on your Mac or PC and the Music app on your iOS devices. For £21.99 a year, users get to store their song collection and CD rips. With around 25,000 songs, most of the popular music is probably already on iCloud. And if it isn't, you can upload it and stream on any of your apple device i.e. iPads, iPods, iPhones or the Apple TVs. Some good news comes along with this as you get to play back songs at 256 Kbps AAC DRM-free quality, even if the original is of lower standards.

So, basically just like Spotify, iCloud will stream songs over the air to the user's computer. Once on iOS devices, it downloads a copy and starts playing the song once it's buffered. So, it is bound to take up some of the storage space. It's worth noting that users can only sync their library to a single account.
