To P or not to P - the case for redesigning the toilet

The lowly (pun intended) toilet may not be a high tech civil engineering subject. Yet this essential waste disposal system is occupying agencies like the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, which is forking out US$ 265 Million on innovation in sanitation.

Even the history of this rear guard device is interesting.
