Tennis Racquets Become Smarter With The New Smart Dampener

Are you a professional or a hobbyist? An engineer by choice or chance? Do you have a keen interest in sports? Or may be it's the urge of knowing, that will hook you to a comparatively new concept of the "Smart Racquet". As the name suggests, it simply is a racquet with a cylindrical add-on intertwined with the net. Whether its required or not, or a valid development is another argument, but one thing is for sure, it could boost the performance if corresponding training is done keeping up to the recorded statistics as per the smart device's result.

At the CES 2016, Sony was seen sporting a unique smart Tennis sensor that supports only specific tennis racquets. On a similar note, Babolat products launched a built in motion tracking system which also had a glitch being only device-specific. Putting them aside, Courtmatics, a US based sport-centerd technical company has recently participated in Highway1 Hardware Start-up accelerator demo day where they decided to set an official debut for their latest venture, the Tennis stroke analyser.

Named as Smart Dampener, the product works as a vibration dampener once it hits a ball and extracts statistics at every shot. When in a company's name , "matics" is present it literally means to study. As per their word, they are the people who study the tennis court. The product comes in Blue,Red and green colored variants which could get fastened with all the tennis racquets. The tiny dampener is made of silicon and has an upper-coating of magnesium.

According to CEO Andre Reznik, the creative idea was initiated back in 2013 when there was the brewing concept of wearable technologies but no such supportive components were released. According to CMO Vadim Blank, tennis players are attracted to use their old racquets rather than something new. The device being very handy and accessible, it has to be "the choice" for any tennis enthusiast.

The dampener comes coupled with a personal coaching application which gives statistical feed about one's shot and suggests a practical solution of "How to improve?" The device not only measures body fitness, it also gives technical data regarding footworks and enables one able to compare the performance with the other one. Additionally, the device also gives intelligent suggestions on the condition of racquet strings and helps the player to change with time. As pre-confirmed by the company, the device will have a price of $79 and is already available in the official website for beta testing.
