Sony's Secret S1 Playstation Tablet

One mega electronics company that has not launched its own tablet is SONY. Sony was silently working on its own tablet and it's called 'S1'. We'd not expect any other name than 'S1' because it reminds us of the PlayStation series (PS, PS2, PS3) and S1 will be a full fledged gaming tablet.

Folks at Engadget got a sketch of the S1 and the design looks quite interesting. The tablet has a bulge on the back which gives the tablet a better viewing angle when placed on a flat table. S1 measures 9.4" with capacitive touch-screen with 1280x800 px resolution. The rumors also point that Sony's planning to include Tegra 2 in the tablet. Of course, there will be cameras on front and rear side. Sony make make a difference to the design by including a USB-A port. The only physical button Sony S1 will have is the Volume On/Off. It may also have an Infrared port to connect the device to non-Bravia TV models.

The Sony S1 tablet may hit the markets not earlier than September 2011, but there are possibilities that lot of features will change and the project may get canceled. We believe Sony will introduce its own tablet because the laptops will reach end-of-life over the next few years and computer makers need to make sure that they're in the game by launching their own tablets PCs. The price of S1 is not yet revealed.
