Sony Xperia E1 And E1 Dual Priced In India At Rs. 9,490 And Rs. 10,490

Sony has today launched its mid-budget Android smartphone called the 'Sony Xperia E1' along with its dual-sim variant - 'Sony Xperia E1 Dual' in India. Both the phones have the same set of specifications and features, and the difference in price is just for the extra SIM card slot. We took a look down the tech specs list for the phone and found a 4-inch multi-touch screen with 800 x 480 pixel resolution. The display accepts gesture input and lets the user take screenshots. Powered by a 1.2 GHz Qualcomm MSM8210 dual-core processor, the Sony Xperia E1 features Google's Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean) operating system. The phone packs inside it a 512MB of RAM and is pretty lightweight at 120g.

Talking of memory, these's 4 GB internal memory which can be expanded up to 32 GB via microSD card slot. Coming to the camera, there's just a 3 megapixel one on the rear end. This camera brings in a range of features including - Geotagging, Image stabilization, Red-eye reduction, Scene recognition, Smile Shutter, Sweep Panorama etc. The cam supports 4x smooth zoom and Self-timer. Under Multimedia and Entertainment category, the phone's specs speak of 3D and motion gaming, 3D surround sound and xLoud Experience – audio filter technology from Sony as well as FM Radio with RDS.

Coming to the connectivity options, the major ones are all in place including - a 3.5 mm audio jack (CTIA), aGPS, Bluetooth 4.0 wireless technology, USB charging, USB High speed 2.0 and Micro USB support, Wi-Fi and WiFi Hotspot functionality and GLONASS. Among the networks, the users can choose from - UMTS HSPA+ and GSM GPRS/EDGE.

That's all about the specs. Among the host of preloaded apps that come with Sony Xperia E1 and Xperia E1 Dual we have - Google Chrome, Google Play, Voice Search, Google Maps for Mobile with Street view and Latitude, Google Talk and Sony Select. All those apps that you have on your Android smartphone may still be running in the background, draining your battery. Battery STAMINA Mode on Xperia E1 saves you wasted battery drain. It recognises when you’re not using your display and automatically turns off the functions you don’t need, while keeping the notifications you want.

Available in 2 colors black, white and purple, the phones will be launched in India at a price of Rs. 9,490 and Rs. 10,490 respectively. The official launch date for the Xperia E1 and E1 dual is set at March 10 and March 25 in India. Take a look at the following promotional video from Sony -

Why does Sony keep going with 512 MB RAM?? 1GB is what most people I know look for. so many features and this efficiency hassle.. Phones tend to get slow with 512.. esp. when you have multiple apps jostling for space.

Gmail, FB, twitter, Banking app, news-feeds, movie-booking, travel-booking, TED, you tube, Whatsapp, Viber, Instagram, and I haven't even reached the games yet!

Does anyone else echo this feeling?

PS: is it possible to increase RAM size for phones like we can get done with desktops and laptops??
