Sony to officially launch the Xperia XZs smartphone in India on April 4

Japanese tech giant Sony is set to officially introduce the Sony Xperia XZs smartphone in India and has already started sending out media invites for the launch event which will take place on April 4 at New Delhi. The company unveiled the Xperia XZs smartphone along with the Xperia XA1, Xperia XA1 Ultra, and Xperia XZ Premium at the Mobile World Congress 2017 (MWC) in Barcelona, Spain replacing the last year’s Xperia XZ. The upcoming Xperia XZs is basically a downsized version of the last year's Xperia XZ and its talking point is the camera which supports capturing of super slow motion videos at 960 frames per second.

Diving deep into the Xperia XZs specifications, it will ship with a 5.2-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 resolution) Triluminos display with the Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on the top for protection. At its core, there is the Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 chipset with Adreno 530 GPU paired with 4GB of RAM. It packs 32GB of onboard storage on the single-SIM version and 64GB on the dual-SIM variant, which is further expandable by up to 256GB via the microSD card. The device also boasts of the IP65/IP68 certification making it water and dust resistant.

On the optics front, there is an impressive 19-megapixel Motion Eye camera with 1/ 2.3” Exmor RS memory stacked sensor that equips the smartphone with features like Triple image sensing technology, Predictive Hybrid Autofocus, Predictive Capture, Anti-distortion shutter, 5-axis image stabilization and 960 fps super slow motion video shooting capabilities. On the other side, there is a 13-megapixel camera with 1/3.06” Exmor RS sensor and 22mm Wide-angle F2.0 lens for pleasing the selfie enthusiasts.
The new Xperia XZs will run the Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box and will be backed by a 2,900 mAh battery supporting Qnovo Adaptive Charging and Qualcomm's Quick Charge 3.0 technology. For connectivity, the device includes 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, WiFi Miracast, NFC, Bluetooth 4.2, A-GPS/GLONASS and USB Type-C port.

The smartphone will be available in Ice Blue, Black, and Warm Silver color options. Regarding the Indian pricing and availability we need to wait for Sony's announcement on April 4 but going by its past record we expect it to charge a hefty premium for the device.
