Sony S Series XQD Memory Cards With 168MB/s Transfer Speed Introduced

Sony has unveiled its latest S Series XQD memory cards, offering sustained read/write transfer speeds of 168MB/s. The 64GB S Series variant will be available internationally within this month, while the 32GB storage card will be launched around September. The XQD card format was developed by SanDisk, Sony and Nikon, in alliance with the CompactFlash Association for high-end DSLRs clicking non-stop RAW images. Sony claims these S Series memory cards to be capable of easily capturing a continuous burst of 108 RAW frames when used with Nikon’s D4 camera.

These features are ideal for sports photographers who cannot afford to miss out on critical moments by enabling stable and continuous shooting to capture the details in the highest quality. Sony is yet to release any details regarding the card’s pricing in North America or Europe, while in Japan the 64GB S Series XQD memory card is available for ¥60,000.
