Snapdragon MSM8960 S4 SoC Details Released By Qualcomm Through Whitepaper (Download)

Qualcomm is working on the next generation of Snapdragon. The company released the details of next Snapdragon S4 SoC through whitepaper (download link below). There are several reasons to be excited about this new Snapdragon. Qualcomm mentions the new 28nm manufacturing process (a move from 45 nm) which makes sure smaller components, improved thermal performance and major improvements in power utilization. Company's Krait CPU introduces new architecture that promises over 60% boost over the current Scorpion lineup to offer clock speeds between 1.5 GHz - 2.5 GHz. It will also feature support to asynchronous multiprocessing and dual channel memory. The chip will offer over 50% boost in the GPU performance over Adreno 220. We can expect lot of improvements in the graphics performance on mobile devices. Get ready for awesome games in near future. [​IMG]

The MSM8960 S4 processor will offer multi-mode world capacities with support to frequencies ranging from 700 to 2600MHz. The processor will also support Cat. 3 LTE (up to 100Mbps) and Cat. 24 HSPA+ (up to 42Mbps), along with EV-DO Rev. B, 1x Advanced and TD-SCDMA, as well as GSM, GPRS and EDGE. In addition, GPS, GLONASS, WiFi, Bluetooth, NFC is also supported.
