SMART STICK FOR BLIND

Project Abstract / Summary : The aim of the overall system is to provide a low cost and efficient navigation aid for blind which gives a sense of artificial vision by providing information about the environmental scenario of static and dynamic objects around them.

Ultrasonic sensors are used to calculate distance of the obstacles around the blind person to guide the user towards the available path.output is in the form of voice which the blind person can hear e.g.,right left etc.

The hardware consists of Arduino uno board , ultrasonic sensors and speaker.

The code is written in Arduino.

Why did you choose to work on this project topic : Vision is the most important part of human physiology as 83% of information human beings gets from the environment is via sight.
Even though the technology has advanced much faster , people still uses the traditional and oldest mobility aids for persons with visual impairments such as the walking crane and guide dogs.

I still see people uses the white cane as an aid , but even then they come across many accidents. Being engineering students , its our responsibility to bring an alternative solution .

So we come across this project for helping the blind people . And make this device available to them at a cheap rate.
