Skype For Windows 8 - New Features Are Awesome

The world is just a few hours (~4 x 24 ) away from Microsoft launching the much awaited and hyped version of Windows, The Windows 8 and we've the news of Skype for Windows 8 from Redmond engineers. Remember, #-Link-Snipped-# for a cool sum of $8billion. Microsoft is leaving no stone unturned to make sure all the cool stuff is ready to go live with Windows 8. Microsoft says that the Skype for Windows 8 will offer a similar look and feel like that of other apps. This means that you will be able to swipe on the screen from left to right to reveal categories like your contact list, recent activity and favorites. On a multi-touch screen, you will be able to pinch to zoom the Skype Live Tile and even do a semantic zoom to browse through a long list of contacts.

Skype will run in the background which means you will be able to setup your start screen to display the notifications like 'missed calls' or offline messages. The new Skype for Windows 8 is all synced with the People Hub, which means contact's Skype handle will show up along with the generic view of contacts which displays their email address and phone number. Microsoft had decided to allow integration of the Skype IDs with your Microsoft Accounts. This means, if you login to your computer with your Microsoft ID, you will be automatically logged into Skype. You will be able to make full-screen video calls and conferences and when you're in a video call, the messages from other contacts will be displayed in bubbles on the side of the screen. Of course you will be able to swipe to check your recent activity - which is handy when you're holding a conversation with multiple people at a time.

Windows 8 will allow Skype to be docked on the side of the screen. The dialpad will allow enough room for hitting the correct numbers which means you can now make lesser wrong calls. You will be able to download the app on Windows Store starting 26 of October.
