Samsung Unpacked 5 : Is Galaxy S5 Coming Or It It "The Tizen"?

It's that time of the year when the electronics and gadget freaks all over the world wait for the news from South Korea. Boy, Samsung's marketing team surely knows what people want and the latest teaser promises a new type of Flagship device from Samsung. The options are several - it could be the Galaxy S5 as expected - but be ready for a surprise. Samsung may just launch a totally new device - a mobile or a tablet.

About a year ago, Samsung had unveiled Galaxy S4; and the invitation to the press read "read 4 the show", clearly hinting at the Galaxy S4. This time, they're throwing in '5' in your eyes - and that could be a strong reference to the Samsung Galaxy S5.

Another important announcement we can expect is 'Tizen' - the brand new mobile operating system Samsung has been developing with a consortium of other companies. Tizen will be able to run Android apps out of the box or with a few changes (as we learn it) and it will directly take Android head-on. Why? Because Samsung needs to free itself from the shackles of Android; which Google's Sundar Pichai has been tightening recently.

Will Galaxy S5 allow Tizen along with Android? We don't know - but that could be an interesting offering from Sammy. The real fight is going to be for the Apps and Samsung will definitely try to dethrone Apple; by competing with the iOS.

I'm not sure what all Samsung Unpacked 5 event will offer. However, Barcelona will surely witness something that'd keep us engaged for the rest of the year on February 2014. The event is being called 'Episode 1'; so we'd guess phased launches of Samsung's products in coming weeks.
