Samsung announced today about buying mSpot Inc, a provider of cloud-based mobile app that is used for entertainment experience of music, video and radio services. mSpot Inc., a company founded in 2004 is based out of Palo Alto, California, previously raised $2.3 million from Trinity Ventures. So, with this deal signed, here comes the round of speculations as to how Samsung will use this new service. Many suggest that the Music and Media Hub may soon get to the cloud, since the overall functioning of mSpot is quite similar to existing popular services like Google Music or Amazon’s Cloud Player, while much like Pandora, mSpot's offers smart radio streaming service. Via mSpot app, users upload their digital content of upto 5GB for free into the cloud for getting instant access to it through their iPhones, iPads, Android smartphones & tablets, and of course on the Google TV.

The Samsung devices that run on Android, see a well-integrated Google Play Store already at the hands of users. If Samsung decides to roll out mSpot app immediately on all upcoming its smartphones and tablets, it remains to be seen whether users will prefer to use mSpot over Google Play. On the other hand, a direct competitor of Samsung, Mr. Apple has an increasingly-popular service called iCloud. Will Samsung be successful in wooing users towards mSpot is the question. Let us know your reactions.
