Samsung Galaxy S8 - Summary of leaked features

It's a new year and high time for a brand new phone from South Korea. Because knowing all the details before the official launch is so cool, we've decided to bring you a summary of all the features that have been 'confirmed' via various leaks. The latest exclusive photo of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S8 has been leaked by the nice folks at VentureBeat and here's how it looks -

The biggest change in Galaxy S8 is that it deviates from the traditional 16:9 aspect ratio for its screen. The two models, 5.8" and 6.2" with QHD SAMOLED display will have the display covering over 80% of the front part of the phone; with an aspect ratio of about 18:9. Also, there will only be the 'curved display' models and no flat display models like the earlier phones in the series. Perhaps Samsung has found out that the curved display models are more popular than the flat display ones.

Sammobile confirms that the S8 will feature an ever-powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chip supported by 4 gigabytes of RAM. The S8 models will have 64GB storage as minimum and battery capacities of 3000mAh and 3500mAh.

The physical home button has also been done away with in the new models. Samsung S8 will also embrace the USB Type-C port, ditching the old micro-USB port. The photo confirms the presence of standard 3.5mm headphone jack; which should keep a lot of Samsung fanboys happy.

Apart from these major upgrades, the camera department will most likely be marginally better than the earlier model with a new 'visual search' feature. We learn that IRIS scanning feature may make it to the S8. We may also see Bixby making it to the S8 (which is Samsung's answer to Siri and Google Assistant). There is a possibility that the finger scanner will be moved to the back of the phone.

The phone is expected to be revealed at a special Samsung event scheduled on March 29. Let us know your expectations from the phone and whether you'll be in the queue to buy one.
