Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini Leaked Specs Say 4.5-inch Display, KitKat OS And 1.5GB RAM

With just one week left for the availability of Samsung’s much-awaited Galaxy S5, the specs details of its younger brother - Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini have been leaked. Sammobile claims to have received some insights on the so-called Galaxy S5 mini with a device sporting model number SM-G800. As per the reports, the mini variant will sport a 4.5-inch Super AMOLED display with a 720p HD resolution, an improvement over last year’s S4 Mini which offered a 4.3-inch display with a qHD (540x960-pixel) resolution.

The smartphone will run on Android 4.4 KitKat and will have a quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor (unspecified chipset). The device will come with 1.5GB RAM, 16GB on-board storage with possibility of microSD card as well. Other features include 8-megapixel rear camera, 2-megapixel front camera, a 2,100 mAh battery, an IR blaster to remotely control your TV and NFC connectivity; most of these specs are similar to that of Galaxy S4 mini. The phone is also expected to come with IP67 certification, on the lines of Galaxy S5, which will protect it from dust and water related damages. However, there is no news on whether the mini variant will feature the flagship’s fingerprint scanner and heart rate monitor. It is unlikely that the phone will have these features given the fact that it is a mid-range smartphone of Samsung’s mini Galaxy line up.

As of now, there is no word on the launch date and price of the phone, but Sammobile cited prior information pointing to a June release. Mini versions of Samsung have always been successful. Share your views on these leaked specs with us in comments.
