If 2011 was the year dual core was introduced in smartphones, 2012 comes with a promise of quad-core processing.  Reports reveal that the Samsung Galaxy S III will sport a Super AMOLED Plus 720p display, 2GB of RAM, the quad-core Exynos chipset, LTE connectivity, and Android 4.0 with TouchWiz. Apart from the latest version of Android and 4G connectivity to crown the smartphone, Galaxy S III boasts of 10 megapixel camera with full 1080p video capabilities and 32GB of internal storage. Rumors also speak of 3D functionality, although if the phone itself will be a 3D phone, or is only capable of sending 3D content to televisions, is still unclear.

The Galaxy S II holds the record of being the fastest selling Samsung smartphone to date when it launched in 2011 by selling over 3 million models in under 55 days. The monster specs Galaxy S III is loaded with, including the strong processing power and Android's latest operating system, it would be interesting to see if it comes at par with its predecessor.

Mobile World Congress 2012 will be held from February 27 through March 1 in Barcelona, Spain.
