Samsung Camera With Android OS - Will The Combo Rock?
How would you like to see an open camera operating system on your digital camera? Well, that's what Samsung might be planning in their R&D Labs at the company's Korean Headquarters. This news came to light when the #-Link-Snipped-# team visited Samsung to discuss about their current and future plans. Though there are no definite plans of design or production yet, the research team at Samsung is experimenting with open OS prototypes and seeing it's history this operating system has high chances of being Google's Android.

We all agree that no matter how much better the front and rear cameras on our smartphones get, they are still no match to the stand-alone devices we have. So, having an Android OS on digicams will break open completely new possibilites. Third-party app developers will be happy to create apps that work seamlessly on the cameras. Users will be able to publish the photos and videos directly on their favorite social networking sites and use a capacitive touchscreen to like and put comments on other's photos. Using WiFi, USB ports and various other accessories could be used in multiple ways.
Since there is no official announcement from Samsung, the product is open to speculations. But it's highly probable that we hear from the company soon since they are not the first one to foray into putting an OS on a digital cam. This January at CES 2012, Polaroid had announced its SC1630 camera, which by the way also has Android OS. You can check it out if you already haven't here -
