RIM Free Premium Apps + Free Technical Support For Blackberry Customers!

Last week, there was a wild uproar when the #-Link-Snipped-#. Following which, Research In Motion Co-CEO Mr. Mike Lazaridis apologized publicly for the Server outages. Moreover, RIM announced today that as a token of appreciation for the patience that Blackberry subscribers showed during the server downtime, it is offering selected premium apps worth more than US $100 for free. The App names as revealed in the press release are:
  • SIMS 3 - Electronic Arts
  • Bejeweled - Electronic Arts
  • N.O.V.A. - Gameloft
  • Texas Hold’em Poker 2 - Gameloft
  • Bubble Bash 2 - Gameloft
  • Photo Editor Ultimate - Ice Cold Apps
  • DriveSafe.ly Pro - iSpeech.org
  • iSpeech Translator Pro - iSpeech.org
  • Drive Safe.ly Enterprise - iSpeech.org
  • Nobex Radioâ„¢ Premium - Nobex
  • Shazam Encore - Shazam
  • Vlingo Plus: Virtual Assistant - Vlingo
Customers will be able to access these apps on BlackBerry® App World™ until December 31, 2011. But, it has to be noted that this offer is available on the type of device & OS Version you have and other local restrictions.

RIM is also offering a month of free technical supports to it's enterprise customers, whereas the current customers will be offered a complimentary one month extension of their existing Technical Support contract. The customers who do not currently have a Technical Support contract will be offered a one month trial of RIM’s BlackBerry Technical Support Services - Enhanced Support. This is all free of charge. It's clear from this gesture that RIM wants Blackberry users to hook-up to their devices by trying out these apps and yeah, gather some goodwill in the process. Mr. Lazardis, said in the press release, “We are grateful to our loyal BlackBerry customers for their patience,” added . “We have apologized to our customers and we will work tirelessly to restore their confidence.  We are taking immediate and aggressive steps to help prevent something like this from happening again.” It's a good move from Blackberry, but some might say, Is it enough?
