Rheinmetall 50kW Laser Weapon Cuts 15mm Thick Steel Girder 1 Km Away!

Rheinmetall, the German defense equipment manufacturing company, has successfully demonstrated their latest 50 kW laser weapon, with an incredible ability to cut a 15 mm thick steel girder situated 1000 meters away! Rheinmetall had demonstrated 10 kW laser technology in 2011 and a 5x increase in the laser power within a year is a great engineering achievement. This powerful laser technology is expected to find its place in air-defense, counter-rocket, Artillery and Mortar/C-RAM weapons.

The company says that with 50 kW laser technology already developed, nothing will stand in company's aim to achieve a 100 kW laser. The 50 kW laser weapon is currently capable of detecting, tracking and engaging targets and even demonstrated shooting down of nose diving target drones in the 2 kilometer vicinity.
