RapidShare Introduces RapidDrive, Will Rival Dropbox

RapidShare has announced a new file management tool with cloud sync called RapidDrive. RapidDrive molds into local storage by integrating with the file system of the PC. The RapidDrive automatically syncs with remote servers, hence sustaining a closer link between cloud storage and the PC memory.

RapidDrive's motive is to simplify the the process of storing files on cloud by coalescing customer accounts and Windows folder structure, allowing unfettered access through Windows Explorer. The customer account is visible in the Explorer window in the same way as an additional hard disk. The files can be dragged and dropped and in the RapidDrive to upload and download.

Such an approach makes it easier for the user to manage and organize its cloud storage. It is especially beneficial for customers who are regular users of RapidShare at work. Another advantage of the integration of RapidShare in the Windows file system is that users can directly upload files to the RapidShare account from other programs (such as word processing programs).

RapidPro customers can currently avail the beta version of RapidDrive, which is compatible with Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7. Versions for other operating systems are under development. The commercial release of RapiDrive is expected to be early September, while the Beta version can be downloaded #-Link-Snipped-#.
