r2d2b2g - Run Firefox OS on Windows, Mac and Linux

Mozilla's engineers are busy building a brand new mobile operating system and it's called 'Firefox OS'. If you're a developer looking to develop or port your apps to the Firefox OS, you definitely need a  test environment right on your desktop to test your apps before you deploy them on actual devices. Mozilla's Myk Melez found out that the existing solutions like B2G Desktop, Firefox Responsive Design View and B2G Emulators are complicated and difficult to configure. In addition these solutions are significantly different from the Firefox OS running on an actual phone.

Instead of looking for other solutions, Myk decided to code and integrate the best of B2G Desktop with Firefox through a B2G Desktop Add-On. The environment is similar to that of phone; but the r2d2b2g add-on is makes the things a lot easier for the developers and offers them with an ability to test their apps on Firefox OS running on desktop.

What r2d2b2g does is combine the B2G desktop with the Firefox OS menu items and options to install the FF OS addons. Loading the B2G environment is quite easy and is accessible through : Tools > B2G Desktop. If you wish to install an app, simply head over to Tools > Install Page as App. r2d2b2g system will install the add-on and start it giving you an exact idea and precise view of how the app will look like when running in an actual Firefox OS environment.
