-6 = -6
9-15 = 4-10
adding 25/4 to both sides:
9-15+(25/4) = 4-10+(25/4 )
Changing the order
9+(25/4)-15 = 4+(25/4)-10
(this is just like : a square + b square - two a b = (a-b)square.)
Here a = 3, b=5/2 for L.H.S and a =2, b=5/2 for R.H.S.
So it can be expressed as follows:
(3-5/2)(3-5/2) = (2-5/2)(2-5/2)
Taking positive square root on both sides:
3 - 5/2 = 2 - 5/2
3 = 2 π π

crookhere is my explanation
This is a typical case of optical illusion. It is very simple. Take the 'tan' of the angle at the top using the upper block. I mean, in first figure - take the tan of top angle using the top green triangle & in the second, the top red triangle.
The value is different in each case. This explains that the second triangle is not a perfect triangle.
I think I got it right.

well a second possibility cud be as follows:crookThis is a typical case of optical illusion. It is very simple. Take the 'tan' of the angle at the top using the upper block. I mean, in first figure - take the tan of top angle using the top green triangle & in the second, the top red triangle.
The value is different in each case. This explains that the second triangle is not a perfect triangle.
I think I got it right.
Crooook
if we look at the picture... we shall notice the base of the triangle is longer w.r.t the perpendicular. this is because (in the first picture) the triangle in red has a long base to add up with the base of the initial triangle....
now if we re-arrange the blocks... we have placed this longer base red triangle on the top while a triangle with a smaller base (the green one) is placed at the bottom... now to maintain the same base as b4 the two " L" blocks have to be placed at a block's gap.... more over they bein initially designed to interlink to form a vertical block have now been used vertically... so they go out of order...
i hope i was fair enough to explain my point... do let me know in case of ne doubts... -

Turn on any switch and keep it 'ON' for some time. Switch it off. Now turn on another switch and rush to the floor above.
1. The bulb which is glowing corresponds to the switch which is presently 'ON'.

raj87verma88The four people in this puzzle all competed in different classes of dog agility at a recent competition. The competitions all required the dogs to run over jumps, through tunnels and various other obstacles in as quicker time as possible. Each had a different result - one came first, one third, one fourth and one ninth. All four dogs were each of a different breed.
Can you work out who handled which dog, at what level each competed, the place each finished in and the breed of each dog?
1. If Tiff finished first then Terry finished fourth.Handler's Names: Jane, Mark, Ruth and Terry
2. If Terry finished fourth then Jago is a collie otherwise Jago is not a collie.
3. If Jane competed in the Senior class then she finished third.
4. If Jane competed in Novice then she finished fourth.
5. The dog that finished ninth was an alsatian. This was either Jago, in which case Jago competed in the Elementary class, or this was Kelly, in which case Terry handled Kelly.
6. Mark won Starters.
7. If Mark's dog is called Patti then Patti is a labrador otherwise Patti is a collie.
8. Ruth's dog is called Jago.
9. If Jago finished fourth then she competed in the Novice class otherwise she competed in the Senior class.

raj87verma88Imagine a prisoner in a prison. He is sentenced to death and has been told that he will be killed on one day of the following week. He has been assured that the day will be a surprise to him, so he will not be anticipating the hangman on a particular day, thus keeping his stress levels in check.
The prisoner starts to think to himself, if I am still alive on Thursday, then clearly I shall be hanged on Friday, this would mean that I then know the day of my death, therefore I cannot be hanged on Friday. Now then, if I am still alive on Wednesday, then clearly I shall be hanged on Thursday, since I have already ruled out Friday. The prisoner works back with this logic, finally concluding that he cannot after all be hanged, without already knowing which day it was.
Casually, resting on his laurels, sitting in his prison cell on Tuesday, the warden arrives to take him to be hanged, the prisoner was obviously surprised!

Split the balls into two groups of three and one group of two.ankur vermaa person has eight identical looking balls,but one of them is heavier than others, he has a two -arm balancing machine and he can weigh only twice,
how can he determine the heavier one ?
Compare the two groups of three.
If one side is heavier, then take two balls from that group and compare them--if neither is heavier, then it's the third ball.
If the groups of three in the first weighing came up equal, then you know that the heavier ball is in the group of two, so you compare the weights of those two.

silverscorpion
well, this is easy.shreyasm89What's the answer?
You take 1 tablet from machine 1, 2 from machine 2 and so on and 10 from machine 10.
Weigh the total tablets in the digital weight.
The total weight should ideally be a multiple of 55. (55 times the weight of one tablet)
See how much is the difference between the total weight and the nearest multiple of 55.
That is the defective machine, and if the total weight is greater than the multiple of 55, then the defective machine produces heavier tablets, and vice versa. π
Let's say machine 5 is defective and it produces lighter tablets. Then, the total weight will be 5 less than 55 times the weight of 1 tablet. ππ -

PraveenKumar PurushothamanNo Deepac... The answer is here:
Here the constant is the distance.
Let consider the time is 'T', velocity is 'V' and distance is 'D' for normal journey.
Equating distances in each case.
Let time in minutes, length in miles initially.
Case1: 120 minutes late
VT = V * 60min + (3/5)*V* ( T + 120min - 60min)
=> VT = 60V + (3/5)VT + (3/5)60V
=> T = 240min = 4hours. Therefore normal journey is 4Hrs.----(1)
Case2: 40 minutes gained from 120 min late.
VT = 50miles + (3/5)*V*(T + 120min - 40min - (50mile/V))
=>using eq.1
=>240V = 50 + (3/5)320V - (3/5)*50
=>V = (5/12)miles/minute. Convert this to miles/hour.
=>v = (5/12)*60 = 25 Miles/Hour.
=>Required Distance is D= VT = 25*4= 100Miles. -

Oyee! Actually, the question with the answer is tricky!!!Dancer_EngineerHere you go:

Let the friends be A, and B.
Cashier be C.
Waiter be W.
A+B (15+15) Β» C
C (5) Β» W
W (1+1) Β» A+B
Total Pay: 14 (A) + 14 (B) - 3 (W) = 25 (C)

Is the answer right???
C (5) >> W ? -
PraveenKumar PurushothamanCashier gives five to waiter...

You say,Praveen-KumarOyee! Actually, the question with the answer is tricky!!!
Let the friends be A, and B.
Cashier be C.
Waiter be W.
A+B (15+15) Β» C
C (5) Β» W
W (1+1) Β» A+B
Total Pay: 14 (A) + 14 (B) - 3 (W) = 25 (C)
Is the answer right???
Total Pay: 14 (A) + 14 (B) - 3 (W) = 25 (C)
But both A and B pay 15 each. -
PraveenKumar Purushothaman
They get back 1 rupee each from the Waiter na? So, mathematically, check! πDancer_EngineerYou say,
Total Pay: 14 (A) + 14 (B) - 3 (W) = 25 (C)
But both A and B pay 15 each. -
PraveenKumar PurushothamanThey pay 15 each... And in turn, cashier gives back 5, out of which 3 is taken by the waiter. So, the waiter pays back 1 each... This way, they effectively pay 14 each! π
-
PraveenKumar Purushothaman
A = 15 B = 15 C = -5 W = 3 ------ T = 28 W = -3 ------ F = 25 ------
Where, A & B are friends, C is the Cashier, W is the Waiter and F is the Food! π -
Dancer_Engineer
Ok.Praveen-KumarThey pay 15 each... And in turn, cashier gives back 5, out of which 3 is taken by the waiter. So, the waiter pays back 1 each... This way, they effectively pay 14 each! π
So Both A and B pay $14 and the waiter keeps $3,
that makes: $14 + $14 + $3 = $31.
But initially there was just $30,
$15 each from A and B.
Where did this 1 Dollar come from? -
PraveenKumar Purushothaman
Eiii!!! I said, Waiter's bill is to be negated!!! You didn't add the $5 which you got from the Cashier!!!Dancer_EngineerOk.
So Both A and B pay $14 and the waiter keeps $3,
that makes: $14 + $14 + $3 = $31.
But initially there was just $30,
$15 each from A and B.
Where did this 1 Dollar come from?
Okay, then coming to your way itself...
First these two pay 15$ each...
Cashier returns back 5$, which you didn't mention...
So, technically, it is not 14 + 14 + 3, but it is 14 + 14 - 5 + 3!!! -

But the bill is $25. π
I think you are pretty close to the solution. π -
ReyaThe bill is $25. If i divide that,each should contribute $12.5
The waitor returned $2 back($1 for each)
The tips of the waitor is $3.
Each gave $15 to the waitor.So the total amount is $30.
$25+$3+$2=30.
"So, the friends paid $14 each for the meal, for a total of $28" is the misleading statement. -

Nope, I think the statement meant total of 14 and 14 is 28.Reya"So, the friends paid $14 each for the meal, for a total of $28" is the misleading statement.
I'm getting confused π
I'll post the solution here
The Solution . . .
$25 is sitting with the Cashier, $2 with the friends, and $3 with the Waiter. That adds to the required $30.
The mistake is expecting that what the men paid and what the Waiter kept to add up to what the men initially gave. In fact, it is the amount that the meal effectively cost them, plus the amount they received back, that should add to $30.
Both of you are right.

Sughosh Deshmukh
the positive square root is the culpritThe_Big_KTry this one now -
Oh really? π
Try this - ( should be easy )
-6 = -6
9-15 = 4-10
adding 25/4 to both sides:
9-15+(25/4) = 4-10+(25/4 )
Changing the order
9+(25/4)-15 = 4+(25/4)-10
(this is just like : a square + b square - two a b = (a-b)square.)
Here a = 3, b=5/2 for L.H.S and a =2, b=5/2 for R.H.S.
So it can be expressed as follows:
(3-5/2)(3-5/2) = (2-5/2)(2-5/2)
Taking positive square root on both sides:
3 - 5/2 = 2 - 5/2
3 = 2 π π
What's wrong with the above ?

Hussanal FarokeI got a solution by guessing answer and coming back. Answer is 4 poles in beginning and 3 poles after removing 1. for 1 km wire. if we have 4 poles, each side will be 1000/4 = 250 meters. if we remove 1 pole, each side will be 1000/3 = 333.333 meters, that is exactly 1+2/6 of 250.
-
Hussanal FarokeSteps..... x/n-1 = x/n * 8/6 -- (1) [Where x is the length,n is no of poles and 8/6 is data(1+2/3)].
eq(1)* 1/x => 1/n-1 = 1/n * 8/6
=> 6n = 8n-8
=>2n = 8
=> n=4. That means total no of poles 4. -
