Persistent Systems To Acquire Agilent Technologies' Software Business To Bolster Life Sciences Exper

It seems that Persistent Systems is on acquisition spree. After acquiring Nagpur based Infospectrum India Pvt. Ltd., Persistent Systems is acquiring Agilent Technologies' software marketing and development business based in Grenoble, France. The acquisition is expected to be completed by August 2011. Agilent Technologies' business is focused on supplying data acquisition and control software for scientific instruments to the life sciences, environmental, energy, applied research and other markets. With this acquisition, Persistent will expand its life sciences expertise. The company currently has 40 dedicated life sciences domain experts and over 500 software engineers working on services supporting laboratory instrumentation, bioinformatics and chemical informatics projects for leading companies in the Life Sciences and Healthcare markets.

Bruce von Herrmann, vice president and general manager of Agilent’s Software & Informatics Business within its Life Sciences Group said that Agilent & Persistent have a strong business relationship for more than 10 years. The acquisition enables Persistent to expand its presence in Europe. Once the acquisition is complete, Persistent Systems will establish Life Sciences Center of Excellence (CoE) in Grenoble, France.  The CoE will help Persistent leverage its corporate technology position in areas like Cloud, Analytics, Mobility and Collaboration.
