Param Yuva-II Super Computer Unveiled By C-DAC

The Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) has achieved its next milestone with the recent unveiling of the Param Yuva II supercomputer. This new supercomputer has a peak speed of 524 Teraflops which is ten times the processing capability of its predecessor the Param Yuva-I which had a peak speed of 54 Teraflops. According to the authorities, Param Yuva II ranks 62nd in the list of Top 500 fastest super computers in the world.

The task of building this mammoth involved around 300 CDAC engineers.  The supercomputer is also said to be very energy efficient as it uses 35% less power as compared to previous versions. The Yuva-II is all set to provide its data crunching capabilities for weather forecasting, bioinformatics and much more. The supercomputer was inaugurated by J Satyanarayana, Secretary of the Department of Electronics and Information Technology on Friday at the C-DAC facility in Pune.
