Oppo unveils F5 Youth with 16 MP A.I Beauty Front camera in Philippines, A79 to debut in China

Chinese consumer electronics giant, Oppo has launched a minimum-bezel variant F5 Youth in Philippines for PHP 13,990 (approx. Rs. 17,900). Oppo A79 meanwhile is slated for a debut in its home market China on Dec.1 at the price tag of CNY 2,399 (roughly Rs. 23,500). Both the smartphones run on Android 7.1 Nougat-based ColorOS 3.2 and feature a 18:9 aspect ratio.

On specifications front, Oppo F5 Youth resembles its sibling Oppo F5 in almost all aspects. Only the camera features differ between the two. The new device sports a 6-inch LTPS TFT display with a full-HD+ (1080 x 2160 pixels) resolution powered by an octa-core MediaTek MT6763T (Helio P23) SoC. Oppo F5 came in two options of 4GB or 6GB of RAM. It had 32GB of internal memory with the 4GB RAM variant and 64GB of internal memory with the 6GB RAM variant. Oppo F5 Youth on the other hand possesses 3GB of RAM with 32GB of onboard storage that can be expanded via microSD card (up to 256GB). The battery backup remains same for both the devices at 3200 mAh.

Major difference lies in the camera specifications between the sibling devices. While F5 Youth has a 13-megapixel rear camera sensor with an f/2.2 aperture lens and an LED flash with a 16-megapixel front camera (f/2.0 aperture lens); Oppo F5 boasted of a 16-megapixel rear camera sensor with f/1.8 aperture and a 20-megapixel front camera sensor with f/2.0 aperture. Clearly the new device has downgraded specifications compared to its earlier launched counterpart. Similar to F5, it has a rear-facing fingerprint scanner with a Facial Unlock feature that unlocks the screen using one’s face. Connectivity options include- 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, A-GPS, Micro-USB with USB OTG support, and dual-SIM support.

Oppo A79

The device sports a 6-inch AMOLED display with a full-HD+ (1080 x 2180 pixels) resolution and an octa-core MediaTek MT6763T SoC, paired with 4 GB RAM. Internal storage is 64 GB further expandable via microSD card. On camera front, it comes with a pair of 16MP cameras – one at the front (with an f/1.8 aperture lens), the other on the back (with an f/2.0 aperture lens).
The smartphone backed up by 3000 mAh battery and VOOC charge support would retail in two variants of Champagne and Black colors. There is no word yet on the availability of both the smartphones for Indian market.
