New Xqd Format By Compactflash Promises 125 Mb/s Write Speed

The current generation of CompactFlash (CF) cards is about to get an upgrade soon. The compactflash association has just finished work on the next generation of the existing cards which make them thinner and faster. The new XQD format will support write speeds of about 125 MB/s. The PCI theoretically promises speeds of about 5 GB/s but real world speeds would be limited to 125 MB/s; which still is good to record high definition photos and 1080p giant videos. The technology will, however take some time to be available for public consumption.
