can anyone explain for me the differences between :

1. IR transmitter and receiver.
2. RF transmitter and receiver.
3. AM transmitter and receiver.

and I want the advantages and disadvantages of each one

    well all f these operate at different frequencies and different environments and also better of all three would be RF because of wider bandwidth i suppose and correct me if i am wrong and in IR case the source and detector must be close by without any obstructions
