Nagpur Metro Railway Project - Development, Status & Updates

A new engineering mega project is set to commission in the city of Nagpur (India). The track is expected to span about 40 kilometers and if things go as planned, it will be complete by year 2020. The overall cost of the project is expected to be about $1.4 billion and a Japanese company has been commissioned to work on the project.

The first route is expected to start from the Automotive Square to Mihan ~ about 21 Km.
The second route would start from Prajapati Nagar and terminate at Lokmanya Nagar, about ~19 Km.

This place has been dedicated to keep track of this project and I welcome everyone interested in the project to post development status and relevant updates here.

#-Link-Snipped-# It's been an year now. The last we heard in August Union Cabinet gave approval for the development of project, and PM Narendra Modi laid foundation stone on 21 August on his visit to the city.
The Total Expenditure of the Project is estimated to Rs. 8680 Cr.

Any update on when the project is actually going to commence?

The work's already began. They're already constructing an office (quite closer to CE -HQ 😉 ) and the chief's promised that they'll aim to ready the project by 2017.
