Moto Z and Z Force With Moto Mods Are Lenovo’s Answer to LG G5

Since Google's Project Ara (PhoneBlocks): World's First Customizable Modular Smartphone's Launch Soon is nowhere in sight and the only thing that has brought us closer to the concept of modular smartphones are plug-in laced flagship handsets like LG G5: Modular Smartphone With Friends Accessories Launched At MWC 2016, the new owners of Motorola, Lenovo have decided to do the same with their new Z range of handsets. Unlike the Moto G range which managed to be a blockbuster hit in countries like India, the Moto X range failed badly. Lenovo then decided to put some thought in the smartphone but not in the name and launch Moto Z and Moto Z Force at yesterday’s Tech World 16 conference. The Moto Z and Z Force will be getting a late launch in September while their DROID variants will be available this summer in the US in tie-up with Verizon. Pricing information is still awaited.

The Moto Z and Z Force have the same 5.5inch Quad HD AMOLED display protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3 which is smaller than the 5.7inch display on the recent Moto X. On the Moto Z which is the thicker of the two you get something Motorola likes to call ShatterShield that guarantees that the display won’t crack in case of a fall. Underneath the hood of both smartphones we find a Snapdragon 820 chipset that houses a 64-bit 2.2 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Kryo CPU, Adreno 530 GPU and up to 4GB of RAM which is pretty much the same configuration you find on the #-Link-Snipped-#. We are going to bet that the Moto Z and Moto Z Force cost nowhere as close to the affordable Mi 5. You get both smartphones in 32 or 64GB internal memory variants with support for microSD cards of up to 2TB.

On the Moto Z which is the world’s thinnest flagship smartphone thanks to the fact that it has ditched its 3.5mm headphone jack for USB Type C port just like the recent Le 2 and Le Max 2 Launched In India By LeEco: Features, Tech Specs & Price At A Glance smartphones you find a 13 MP rear camera with dual LED flash and a front 5MP shutter. The Moto Z is powered by a 2600mAh battery while its big brother is powered by 3500mAh battery along with bigger 21MP camera on the rear and the same 5MP camera on the front. Both smartphones are also equipped with fingerprint sensors just like most flagships.

Next we have the Moto Mods which are modular units that fit on to the smartphone with the help of powerful magnets. Currently there are three Moto Mods available in the market. The first one is the JBL SoundBoost that gives your Moto Z smartphone a thumping speaker attachment. Next is the Moto Insta-Share Projector that gives you a 70-inch projector to play with your smartphone. Finally we have the Power Pack Moto Mod that gives you 22 hours of extra power. You can also add Style Shells to your smartphones to give it a fashionable look and you might want to as the camera module is protruding on the rear and in desperate need of protection.
