Microsoft HomeOS To Automate Our Homes In The Future

Home automation is not a new concept. But when a tech-giant like Microsoft publishes a research paper that talks about a HomeOS, it becomes the talk of the town. Microsoft HomeOS project presents users with a scenario where all the devices in your home will be connected to a single PC and the user can control them all centrally through a management interface. HomeOS is already being run in 12 real homes for the last 4–8 months. And students are building new applications based on this platform.

The research paper states that the HomeOS is built using C# and the .Net 4.0 Framework 4.0 and touches various topics like the actual architecture, design & implementation and  evaluation of this project.

Right now, it seems less likely that this Microsoft product will surface in the market anytime soon. There is no official word about a commercial roll out. But, we are definitely looking forward to this one.
