Micromax reveals Dual 5 - world's first 13MP+13MP+13MP smartphone

After a month of promotion and build up, Micromax has finally launched its 2017 flagship device named Dual 5 in an event in New Delhi today. As the name suggests, it features a dual camera setup making it a photography centric smartphone. The company has always focused on budget segment or mid-range devices, but not anymore. Priced at Rs. 24,999, Dual 5 is going in a fight with totally new competitors.

The Indian manufacturer made sure to bring something unique in the device. One such stand out is the inclusion of CC EAL 5 chip-a military grade security chip- which runs an independent operating system and whenever you enter the ‘Security Mode’, you are redirected to this safe space which no one else can access or even see. Your private pictures, SMSs, private call-logs and videos remains totally secure and isolated from main OS.

Coming to camera, another specialty of this device, a 13 MP front camera is provided alongside a dual 13 MP rear camera setup. The dual mode on Dual 5 also provides dual functionality. One can get an extra bokeh effect or better pictures in night mode, the choice is yours. The rear camera is capable of recording 4K videos and 1080p is the limit for front camera.

The phone is powered by Snapdragon 652 processor which is a bit disappointing to see at this price point. Multitasking will be a breeze with 4GB of RAM. A 5.5-inch FHD AMOLED display looks stunning. Fast charging 3.0 is supported and going by company’s claim, you can get 3200mAh battery completely charged in 45 minutes.

Nothing is compromised in connectivity department. With USB Type C, hybrid SIM slot and support for all LTE bands+ VoLTE, we also get a 3.5mm jack and an IR blaster. Although support for external memory card is provided, but a 128 GB internal storage leaves nothing to be desired. The device surely looks like a solid competition and it might do well in 20-25k segment.
