Micromax Canvas Silver 5 Price, Specs and Features Revealed

Indian phone brand Micromax has unveiled the all new Micromax Canvas Silver 5. Priced at Rs. 17,999, the phone is claiming to be the world's thinnest and lightest phone ever! The phone geeks may quickly point out that the OPPO R5 has a thickness of just 4.85mm; but Micromax says that there are no camera bumps on their phone - which entitles them to the crown for making a bumpless, end-to-end slimmest phone ever.

The Micromax Silver 5 is also lightest of the lot, weighing only about 97 grams. Does the hardware do justice to the price tag and all the claims company's made? Let's find out.

The Silver 5 packs a 4.8" AMOLED display. We do not yet know the resolution of the display yet. At its heart, the smartphone has Qualcomm 410 processor equipped with 2GB of memory. The slimmer size is a result of compromise on the external SD card slot; which means there's no scope of adding to the exiting 16 GB of phone's storage. The phone ships with Android Lollipop and is 4G enabled. There's only one SIM slot, the potential buyers may note.

The mobile photographers are likely to be happy with the 8 MP rear shooter with Sony IMX219 sensor. The narcississts should be able to click their selfies with a 5 MP lens on the front. All of the above hardware is powered by a 2000 mAh battery pack.

Airtel is promising to offer its 4G data along with the phone for about 3 months. The phone is expected to hit the markets in July. Micromax also announced a new customer care service which will allow the users to diagnose and report the problems with their devices. Micromax will offer door-to-door pick up and drop service for the phone in case it requires a repair. Micromax promises to return the phone to you within 7 business days.

What exactly are they charging that kind of money for? The display and the slim factor I guess - The only two appealing factors here.
