  Its easy to interface microcontroller with stepper motor.. just you have to control port pin of Controller and need a Driver circuit for the stepper motor nothing else

  In details
  I have five photocopier trays and I want to control the motors of feed for every tray in sequence to be like collator (but with 5 bins) see this link

  See there is no readymade circuit availble i can give you some Reference designs from that you have to modified according to your application.

  Now I've got the mechanical Hardware, 4 Paper draw units
  Every Unit has:
  1- lift motor (24 Volt)
  2-electromagnetic clutch (24 Volt)
  3-Draw Coil (24 Volt)
  4-Brake Coil (24 Volt)
  ------------------------------------
  5-tray sensor (with 3 terminals)
  6-Level sensor (with 3 terminals)
  7-draw coil sensor (with 3 terminals)
  8-Pass sensor (with 3 terminals)
  
  Note: The sensors are like beam or Optical that feel any thing cut the beam or make it still continuos without any cut.
  
  and I want to control that 8 elements per every unit ,
  8*4 = 32 element
  I' not expert but I have an Imagine for that in this flow chart
