LG’s 4K UHD Projector Creates A 150-Inch Screen On Your Wall, To Be Launched At CES 2018

The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) gives every electronics company a chance to showcase and tease their newest offerings. LG has already wowed us with the world’s first #-Link-Snipped-# and now it’s time for something even bigger or smaller, depends on which way you look at it. LG has announced that it has created its first 4K UHD (Ultra High Definition) projector which has already managed to grab the CES’ Best of Innovation award. The projector is called the HU80K series. We know that it sounds pretty bland but wait till you see what it can do.

This 4K UHD projector can project videos of 4K resolution on a 150-inch screen. It can deliver brightness levels of 2500 lumens making it the brightest of all LG projectors. The projector also supports HDR content but no support for Dolby Vision has been mentioned. Now creating a projector is not a difficult task but making it compact enough was a problem. LG’s engineers made sure that their creation was half the size of 4K projectors being offered by their counterparts. The unique aspect of this projector is that it employs a mirror-less l shaped engine which means that the projector can still project images even when it is kept on the floor. You can still mount it on a wall or hang it from a ceiling.

When you need to watch 4K content you do not need to plug-in a computer with it (although you still can), you can simply use the webOS 3.5 smart TV interface built directly into the projector to fire up apps like Netflix and Amazon Prime Video which have 4K content. Other connectivity options on the LG 4K UHD projector include USB, Ethernet, HDMI and wireless mouse and keyboard. With HDMI you can plug-in streaming devices like the Chromecast and Fire TV and use the USB port to power them up.

Full disclosure, the LG 4K UHD projector does have two powerful 7W speakers built-in but you might want to invest in at least a 5.1 channel speaker setup if you truly want to experience cinematic sound. When not in use, the Mirror Reflector which we mentioned earlier can be used as a lens cover to protect the lens from dust. Like all its CES 2018 reveals, LG has not disclosed the pricing and availability information for this 4K UHD projector.
