LG Shares UX 6.0 Teaser For LG G6 Ahead Of Its MWC Launch

Today, the South Korean smartphone manufacturer LG posted a teaser on YouTube highlighting the features available through the UX 6.0 of its next flagship phone, the LG G6. With the Samsung postponing unveiling of the Galaxy S8, LG has the opportunity to steal the limelight on the stage of MWC 2017 at Barcelona. The company is good at getting ahead of the leaks and has been teasing its upcoming products for a while now, dropping hints along the way about what to expect from its highly anticipated G6 smartphone.

The new user interface, dubbed as UX 6.0 is specifically customized for the LG G6's 5.7-inch QHD+ ‘Full Vision’ (2,880 x 1,440) display, which will ship with a unique taller screen having 18:9 aspect ratio. While 18:9 is a bit fancier way of saying 2:1, LG explains that it will almost entirely fill the front of the smartphone and the expanded top and bottom of the large screen will ensure the users gets a differentiated and immersive experience while viewing video clips, surfing the web, reading an e-book or playing games.

For viewing existing 16:9 ratio content, the device will use an upscaling feature for an easy transition to 18:9 format. The expansive 18:9 display combined with the multi-window capability of Android 7.0 Nougat, carves out space for advanced multi-tasking features allowing users to run apps in perfectly square windows side-by-side.

With the previous flagships, LG has placed a lot of emphasis on their cameras and is continuing this trend with the G6, which comes with a new feature, called Food Mode that delivers high saturation and color quality for enhancing the look of food pics.

The camera will also take advantage of the 18:9 screen, allowing users to capture photos in a 1:1 format using the new Square Camera feature. The feature divides the 18:9 phone screen into two identical perfect squares in the viewfinder next to each other for the user to review the images taken side by side. Another camera feature is included, which allows generating of GIF images combining 2 to 100 pictures taken in a loop.

The LG G6 is slated to make its official debut on February 26 at the Mobile World Congress 2017 (MWC) in Barcelona.
