Kult Ambition With Fingerprint Sensor & Android Nougat Costs Rs. 5999

Kult Mobiles, a relatively new entrant in the smartphone market in India has launched a new smartphone called the Kult Ambition. The Kult Ambition is the third smartphone of the Delhi based company and just like the previously launched Kult Gladiator and Kult Beyond it too shall be an Amazon India exclusive. The Kult Ambition has been priced at Rs. 5999 which makes it a Redmi 5A and Micromax Bharat 5 competitor. The Kult Ambition will go on sale on Amazon India on the 11th of December. So before that date, let us discuss the smartphone.

The only problem while discussing the smartphone is that the Kult Ambition is not officially listed on its official website as of this writing. The only information we have is from the Amazon India promotional page. The Kult Ambition has a 5inch HD IPS panel display which is not encased in any protective glass. The product promotional page says that it runs a 64bit quad core CPU but has not specified the clock speed. Since it also says that it has an ARM Mali T-720 GPU we can easily guess that the Kult Ambition runs with the help of a MediaTek chipset because Mali GPUs are a staple of MediaTek chipsets while Qualcomm likes to use the GPUs from Adreno. If we had to further pinpoint the chipset we can narrow it down to the MediaTek MTK 6737, which is commonly found in budget handsets. The Kult Ambition runs Android Nougat out of the box.

The Kult Ambition has a 3GB RAM and an internal memory of 32GB. You can use microSD cards of up to 32GB to expand the storage. When it comes to cameras we have a 13MP sensor on the rear with LED flash and a 5MP soft LED flash equipped sensor on the rear. Just like most smartphone cameras in this price bracket it comes with Beauty Mode and HDR. The Kult Ambition can record videos in HD resolution at 30 frames per second. Underneath the rear camera we find a fingerprint sensor which is quite unique for a budget smartphone. Apart from locking and unlocking apps and the phone, the fingerprint sensor can be used to take calls, click selfies and launch applications. The Kult Ambition is powered by a 2600mAh battery which can take you to up to 10 to 12 hours of usage.

With a price tag of Rs. 5999 and the presence of a fingerprint sensor, the Kult Ambition seems like a good purchase but with the lacklustre MediaTek chipset we cannot foresee good performance. The Kult Ambition surely pips the Micromax Bharat 5 but Redmi 5A takes the cake with its good build quality and performance which is coupled with a Rs. 4999 early bird price tag.
